Materials & care · 4 minute read

The fabric label has a story of its own.

Read the body, mesh and under-brim separately.

1

A style name does not specify the fiber

Read the material list for the exact product and color. Solid colors and printed versions can have different body and under-brim materials. Our records preserve these distinctions where the maker provides them, rather than summarizing every variant as one fabric.

2

Material is not a comfort test

Polyester or nylon on a label does not establish how a child will experience the hat. Weight, construction and fit all remain relevant, and we have not run wear or temperature tests. Descriptions of comfort in a manufacturer listing are not our own observations.

3

Read mesh qualifications

If the manufacturer qualifies a sun-rating claim for mesh or other components, keep that qualification beside the rating. Do not quietly apply the main fabric’s statement to every part of the hat. Our comparison is a record of published claims, not independent UV testing.

4

Keep the care label nearby

Washing and drying instructions can differ between two similar-looking styles. Record the directions for the actual item, check the supplied label and follow the maker’s guidance. A general fabric name is not enough to select a drying method.
